DOWNWIND CAMPS

Downwind paddling is one of the most powerful and misunderstood parts of paddle sports.

When done well, it changes everything. Boats accelerate with less effort. Water begins to feel predictable instead of chaotic. And paddlers stop fighting the ocean and start working with it.

But downwind is not something most athletes learn safely or correctly on their own.

It requires understanding water movement, reading wind and swell, managing risk, and developing timing and connection in constantly changing conditions. These are skills that build quickly with the right guidance, and slowly or not at all without it.

These two-day camps are designed to give you direct, in-person coaching while learning in real conditions. You’ll complete multiple downwind runs each day, receive individual feedback on your technique and decision-making, and develop the awareness and confidence needed to move through the water more efficiently and safely.

Just as importantly, you’ll be doing it alongside other paddlers who are learning and progressing with you. Downwind is challenging, but it’s also one of the most fun and rewarding experiences in paddle sports. Sharing runs, celebrating breakthroughs, and learning together accelerates both skill and confidence.

This is not about surviving downwind.

It’s about learning how to work with it, and enjoying the process.

Whether you are stepping into downwind for the first time or looking to refine your skills in open ocean conditions, these camps provide a structured, supportive environment to accelerate your progress.
